I am a 67-year-old American citizen. For the past 18 years I have worked for a community-based mental health agency. My current position at that agency is as a certified recovery support specialist. That means that I have experienced mental health difficulties myself. Open till about two years ago I was definitely a skeptic about meditation and mindfulness. About that time I discovered a book by Dan Harris called 10% happier. In that book you gave a lot of the scientific evidence supporting meditation and mindfulness generally.
About a year and a half ago I began an active practice of meditation using the app that Dan era started from his book. I practice every day for a minimum of 30 minutes a day and in the past year and a half, I have only missed three days of meditation. I have begun teaching clients that I work with as well as staff members how to meditate and I am starting a new group within a week that is why I was so interested skillful mind
Besides meditation, my loads in life are not in any particular order my wife children and grandchildren, dogs and baseball. Meditation has changed my life and alleviated much of my negative self talk, depression & anxiety.
